WellWithNature’s Vegetable Medley

Vegetable medaly post

Fruit and Vegetables!  Not only are they delicious; they are absolutely essential for optimum health.   For a long time I thought fruit and vedge are fruit and vedge, but now I’m starting to appreciate the benefits of eating organic.  Not only do they taste that little bit better but they are so much cleaner for our bodies; and with all those nasty toxins around us every single day; in the air, what we put on our skin, in our hair, on our clothes (I could go on and on) why not take something away?  It’s well worth it, especially if you’re looking to start a family (Men and Women); every little bit counts right.  Continue reading

Part 3 of great food for a healthy cardiovascular system – Apples

Apple.JPGCan an apple a day really help keep the doctor away?

Research says yes – especially long term and especially when we look at cardiovascular disease. Fruit and vegetables (my favourites) have long been associated with good health and the prevention of chronic health conditions. Evidence suggests it is the constituent of soluble fibre, pectin as well as the phytochemicals; polyphenols, and flavonoids in apples which are most beneficial for CVD prevention and progression. Part 2 of great food for a healthy cardiovascular system – Fish

We all know fish is good for us but why and how can increasing intake reduce CVD risk factors?

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are long chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and are the constituents of fish evidence suggests is responsible for the cardiovascular health benefits, due to their proven anti-inflammatory, anti-lipidemic, anti-platelet anti-arrhythmic and vasodilatory properties.  Continue reading
